In addition to the screening and the Q&A panel, Netflix has released an extra creepy clip for those of us playing along with SDCC from home. The clip shows the first meeting between Light Turner (Nat Wolff) and the dark death god Ryuk (voiced by Willem Dafoe) which takes a bizarre, tense and deadly turn. Throughout the two-minute clip, it’s Ryuk’s sinister, smiling face that gives us the extra creeps! Check it out:
The official synopsis for the film is below:
Based on the famous Japanese manga written by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, Death Note follows a high school student who comes across a supernatural notebook, realizing it holds within it a great power; if the owner inscribes someone’s name into it while picturing their face, he or she will die. Intoxicated with his new godlike abilities, the young man begins to kill those he deems unworthy of life.
Death Note will be hitting Netflix on August 25.
