SDCC Exclusive: The ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Experience – Video Walkthrough

I’ve said it once, and I will say it again: The Blade Runner 2049 Experience stole the show at SDCC this year.
The experience starts with a three and a half minute VR sequence that plays like a ride at Disney. You’re flying around in a ship, as you sit in a D-Box chair that is moving and shaking. After a brief, but exhilarating spaceship chase sequence through the city, you land on the city streets. You’re then asked to remove your VR headset and just like that…you are in the middle of the city.
While this might sound like your typical ride at your favorite theme park; you have to keep in mind that this experience was a pop-up/temporary one. The amount of work that went into making this such a surreal and immersive experience is beyond impressive.
As you walk through the city, you are questions by police officers, civilians and more. You’re able to wander around looking at props and costumes from Blade Runner 2049, and you’re able to eavesdrop on conversations between civilians. And, did I mention there were samples of Johnnie Walker in test tubes? AMAZING!
I could go on and on about how immersive this experience was, but, that wouldn’t be fun, would it? So, please, I encourage you to check out the video below to experience my favorite part of SDCC 2017!
Blade Runner 2049 will be in theaters October 6, 2017.
