SDCC: ‘Arrow’ Star Stephen Amell Says Season 5 Ending will Deeply Impact the Arrowverse

The season 5 finale of Arrow left fans with a sinking feeling about their favorite team of vigilantes.  The season ended with a bang, quite literally, which left the future of Team Arrow completely and totally up in the air.  After an emotional show down between Oliver Queen and Adrian Chase, Chase ended up taking his own life which triggered a massive explosion on the island which also contained all of Team Arrow!  With the fate of Team Arrow left up in the air, we sat down with series star Stephen Amell at San Diego Comic-Con and spoke with him about season 5’s impact and where that leaves Team Arrow.

Of course, Amell was sure to keep any specific details close to his quiver but, he did tell us that the events of the season 5 finale will tremendously influence what happens in season 6.  When asked Amell how that crazy cliff-hanger will impact Oliver Queen and the rest of Team Arrow and his one-word response gave us chills:

“Deeply!

Yes, that explosion will deeply impact everything in Oliver Queen’s world and the world of Team Arrow.  That definitely does not give us that warm and fuzzy feeling that everything is going to be ok, especially after that emotional rollercoaster of a season!  With so many emotional days of filming, one scene, in particular, stood out for Amell. He told us about the scene which he is most proud of from season 5.

“The scene that I might be the proudest of in the entire 5th season was when I called Moira [Queen] and Susanna Thompson flew up from San Diego for one day.  We shot that scene in the parking lot of the studio.  She was off camera and we built that little piece of the sitting room from the Queen mansion.  I was off camera for her and, man, we won’t be able to match the emotional gravity of season 5 until the final season of the show, whenever that is.  That’s not to say that season 6 can’t be better. “

So does that mean brighter days may be ahead in the future during season 6?  Well, that, Amell wouldn’t tell us but, if it’s any comfort to fans, he did assure us that we won’t have to wait long to find out what happens following that crazy explosion.  The first episode of the season will pick right up immediately following the ending of season 5.

Whether means good news or bad news for Team Arrow has yet to be determined. Arrow will be moving to Thursday nights when the series returns for season 6 on October 12th at 9 pm on the CW.
