SDCC 2019: ‘Supernatural’s Final Hall H Appearance

The day that fans of the hit show Supernatural never thought would come has arrived. The cast and creators of the show entered Hall H during San Diego’s Comic-Con one last time. The final season of the show will take fans on an emotional roller-coaster ride. The fifteenth season will also showcase the talents of its stars one last time. The panel consisted of series stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Misha Collins, and Alexander Calvert. Executive producers Robert Singer, Andrew Dabb, Eugenie Ross-Lemings, Brad Buckner, and Robert Berens also appeared on stage for the final Hall H panel to say goodbye to the hit CW series.

The show was celebrated on stage with a reel over ten minutes long. Considering Supernatural is the longest-running sci-fi genre series in American broadcast television history this makes sense,  The show’s fourteen season reel contained three particular songs. Blue Oyster Cult’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper,” Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising” and Kansas’ “Carry on Wayward Son“. The reel covered many triumphant moments throughout the history of the show. Characters that are no longer with us and characters we cannot imagine leaving us even with the end quickly approaching. Moments that made the fans go wild as Dabb joked the upcoming season “will be 20 episodes of clip shows.

There have been many amazing story arcs on Supernatural over the years. In many ways, it’s difficult to imagine what story is left to tell. Though after season fourteen’s finale, anything can happen. If anyone would have told me that was where season fourteen would end up, I would have laughed. In many ways that is what makes the show so great. The show features predictable moments.  However, these characters have had plenty of unique spins on on them the past fourteen years. Bucker noted that “Sam and Dean’s beliefs about God has changed — they’re questioning his intentions.” No one can blame them. Berens also added that “the reveal in the finale goes back to the theme of free will — which has been a common thread throughout the series.

Ross-Leming assures fans that the final season will “take chances we haven’t done before.” The story will follow the chaos unleashed at the end of season fourteen.  The show will also examine the fallout for the Winchesters and the rest of the world. She insists that season fifteen “has many tentacles and you’ll see them played out throughout the season.” This is the actual apocalypse finally taking place on Earth. How will these characters contain what they have fought so hard to keep from occurring on Earth all these years. With various multi-verses through anything is truly possible for this upcoming season.

Further details are sparse at this time. Supernatural will come back into our lives on Thursday, October 10 at 8 pm. The show’s final season will consist of 20 episodes. This brings the show’s total run to 327 episodes.  And something tells me the series finale will leave fans talking for some time to time.
