The Supernatural panel is always a highlight of San Diego Comic-Con and 2018 was no different. While this year didn’t feature a live performance by Kansas, the cast and creators, including Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Mischa Collins definitely were on hand to pull out all of the stops!
Things kicked off with a highlight reel of the show’s impressive thirteenth season, which featured a Scooby Doo episode, a Wayward Sisters backdoor pilot episode, and a finale that found Michael taking over Dean’s body. Thanks to EW, you can check that out below!
Despite the fact that the series only started shooting last week, the crew came with an exclusive look at Jensen Ackles’ highly anticipated performance as Michael. To say that fans were impressed would be a huge understatement. They were raving about his performance and ability to embody this new challenging character.

Of course, with Dean gone, Sam will be able to step up his leadership skills, according to Jared Padalecki.
#Supernatural #SDCC #SPNSDCC jared how will Sam deal with dean disappearance?
Jared: he’s taking a leadership position & everyone is under his watch. Sam needs to take the cues and lessons he learned from Dean and pass them on— Kam | #spnborders (@kamyb22) July 22, 2018
At one point during the panel, Mischa Collins got up and handed out voter registration cards to those in the crowd over 18.

The cast also touched on just how the show has become a family and how meaningful it is when people tell them that they grew up with the show.
Misha talks about how many fans have literally grown up watching the show over the past 14 years. That’s why the cast and characters feel so much like family. I can relate. I was 13 when the series debuted in 2005. Watched from the start. I’m 26 now. #Supernatural #SDCC

Padalecki reflected on what he’s learned about himself the past 13 years.
Jared: “I started this show when I was 22, I recently turned 36. There’s a certain romance & a draw to be living life that life is short. The older I get, the more excited I get to treat like life is long. My life has gotten better by treating it [like that].” #SDCC #Supernatural

Ackles talked about the one thing that he’s going to steal from the set and it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone.

Supernatural returns for season 14 on The CW Thursday, October 11!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
