On Friday during Amazon’s block of programming at San Diego Comic-Con, it was announced that Hollywood’s resident spirit animal Frances McDormand will voice God in their upcoming series Good Omens. Honestly, it’s brilliant casting and I will now be watching this show.

The six-part television series, which is based on Neil Gaiman’s and Terry Pratchett’s novel of the same name,“takes place in 2018 when the Apocalypse is near and Final Judgment is set to descend upon humanity.” It follows an angel named Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and a demon named Crowley (David Tennant) who have lived quite pleasantly amongst the people of Earth and aren’t exactly thrilled about the impending apocalypse and the Final Judgement.

In addition to McDormand, Sheen, and Tennant, Good Omens will also star Parks and Rec alum Nick Offerman as “the father of Warlock Dowling, a child who is mistakenly believed to be the Antichrist,”  as well as Jon Hamm,  Mirelle Enos, Yusuf Gatewood, and Adria Arjona.

Good Omens authors Gaiman and Pratchett will be writing the series, which was originally meant to come to life on screen in the 90s with Johnny Depp and Robin Williams attached before financing fell through. While an exact release date has not been announced yet, fans can expect to see this motley crew on screen sometime in 2019.

McDormand recently won the Academy Award this past year for her stunning performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. She has also appeared in HBO’s Olive Kitteridge, 2016’s Hail, Caesar!, Isle of Dogs, and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Amazon also shared an inside look at the series at the panel, you can check that out below!

The series is currently set for a 2019 premiere.
