SDCC 2018: All of the Panels to Watch For on Friday

San Diego Comic-Con 2018 will soon be upon us when it kicks off next week! Despite the fact that Hall H staples like Marvel and HBO’s Game of Thrones are sitting this year out, plenty of casts and creators from your favorite movies and TV shows will be hitting the floor and panel stage to give you exclusive first-looks, screenings, and insights for what’s to come. We here at Fan Fest will be keeping you up to date with all of the SDCC happenings but here are some of the panels to look out for on Friday, July 20th whether you’re one of the lucky few attending or a Sheldon:
The movies are where it’s at!
Hall H has some great offerings for you cinephiles on Friday. Universal kicks things off with a double panel featuring M. Night Shyamalan’s Glass and David Gordon Green’s Halloween, followed by Paramount and Sony who are bringing exciting projects like Bumblebee and Venom to the con!
Universal Pictures’ Glass and Halloween

“Filmmakers and actors from two of Universal’s most-anticipated upcoming releases- Glass, from M. Night Shyamalan, and Halloween, from David Gordon Green-have a few riveting surprises in store for Comic-Con.”
Paramount’s Bumblebee (Transformers)
Friday, July 20 • 5:00pm – 6:00pm
“Paramount Pictures brings Transformers to Comic-Con Hall H for the first time with Bumblebee. Director Travis Knight will be joined by star Hailee Steinfeld and cast in a panel moderated by Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican.”
Sony’s Venom & Spider-Verse
Friday, July 20 • 6:15pm – 7:15pm
“Sony Pictures presents two of their most anticipated films produced in association with Marvel. First up, filmmakers and talent will show you what’s in store as the lethal protector Venom finally gets his own movie. Then, the creators of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse give you an inside look at their groundbreaking animated movie.”

CBS All-Access’ Star Trek: Discovery

The cast and producers of this CBS All Access series look back on season 1 and find out where the crew is headed as it transports into its second season. Cast members scheduled to appear include Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug Jones, Shazad Latif, Mary Wiseman, Anthony Rapp, Wilson Cruz, Mary Chieffo and Anson Mount alongside executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin. The panel will be moderated by series guest star Tig Notaro, who will appear as chief engineer Reno. Season 1 of Star Trek: Discovery is now streaming on CBS All Access.”

Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
