It’s been a pretty rough time for Supergirl fans this last year. First, we learned that the upcoming season would be the show’s last, which was very disappointing for fans of Supergirl. Then, the character’s future was up in the air with the announcement that there would be no crossover this year. It looks like Supergirl fans have finally caught a break, though. The character will be making her way over to the DCEU, though sadly Benoist will not be making the jump with her. DC has decided to go with a brand new Supergirl who I can not wait to see in action. Sasha Calle is DC’s new Supergirl.
The news was first reported by Deadline who have said that Supergirl will be first popping up in the upcoming Flash film. This means Sasha Calle will make her debut alongside Ezra Miller and Ben Affleck who are reprising their respective roles. That’s Flash and Batman if that wasn’t abundantly clear. Sasha Calle doesn’t seem to have been in very many things yet, but she’s apparently quite the skilled actress. She won a daytime Emmy for her role in the Young And The Restless, which is quite impressive.
“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role.” is what Andy Muschietti had to say about it, so it sounds like they had a huge talent pool to pick from. For him to say that Calle was destined for this role is no small thing, she must have been incredible.
I’m quite excited for the new Supergirl and I’m excited to see her in action! Hopefully, she can replace the Melissa Benoist sized hole in all of our hearts.
