Sarah Chalke to Reunite With 'Scrubs' Boss for New ABC Dramedy

It’s a mini Scrubs reunion! Sarah Chalke is reuniting with Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence for a new ABC dramedy, which is based on Chalke’s life.  According to Deadlinethe untitled autobiographical series will follow “two very different sisters who take over the adoption agency that their parents, a lawyer and a social worker, have run out of their home for the last 30 years.” In addition to starring in the series, Chalke will also co-executive produce.

The pilot episode will be written by Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce’s Emily Fox with Lawrence producing alongside Jeff Ingold under his Doozer Productions banner.

Chalke is probably best known for her role as Dr. Elliot Reid on NBC’s long-running comedy series Scrubs. The series, which ran for a total of nine years ending in 2010, also starred Zac Braff, Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, Neil Flynn, and Judy Reyes. Since then Chalke has appeared on other small screen ventures including RoseanneCougar Town and How I Met Your Mother. She’s also on the voice cast of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty.

ABC is currently giving some love to the dramedy genre with their new series A Million Little Things. With an ensemble cast including James Roday, Ron Livingston, Grace Park, and Dave Giuntoli, the series follows a group of friends who become motivated to live fuller lives after an unexpected death. It has been performing very well during its Wednesday night time slot and certainly bodes well for the genre on the network. Check out our full review of the pilot episode here!
