Ryan Reynolds talks Being Smitten by Blake Lively at the Met Gala

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively have a pretty epic love story if for no other reason than that, when they speak about one another, it’s a pure and honest love that exists between them. Honestly, you don’t even need to hear them speak of one another, you can look at the way Ryan lights up when he sees Blake and the way she smiles when she sees him too.

However, we never do get sick of hearing Ryan speak about Blake, and he warmed out hearts again yesterday when he spoke to Humans of New York at the Met Gala. Ryan said, simply, that Blake taught him empathy, and what he said resonated with us as well.

She always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She’ll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were five or six years old. And she’s made me a more empathetic person.

He went on to say that she helped him want to remember the good in his father and the relationship that they share.

I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn’t want to remember. She made me remember the good times.”

Empathy is a bit of a lost emotion, and it would help us all to slow down and remember that, in times of anger and distress, people are people – we’re all human. You never know what someone is going through in their own lives, or what they’ve overcome. It seems that Blake looks at life with that in her mind, and it’s a pretty nice thing to do.

The pair looked absolutely stunning at the Gala, as usual. They’re one of our favorite couples to watch turn up at events. They compliment one another, neither one or the other ever steals the spotlight even though Ryan would rightfully hand it over.

Some couples in Hollywood seem to take it for granted, but not these two. May we all take notes and be a little more empathetic.
