Rotten Tomatoes: Uncharted Rating

Despite the fact that Uncharted isn’t expected to topple Werewolves Within or The Angry Birds Movie 2 from atop the “best-reviewed video game movies” list, the response has been quite encouraging so far. The film has a positive rating of 51 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, according to the week’s activity. That isn’t great for a large blockbuster franchise (Marvel is targeting an 84+), when compared to other video game adaptations, but it does okay. It compares favorably to Rampage and Tomb Raider. Uncharted is currently ranked #7 out of 47 video game movies on Rotten Tomatoes’ story ranking, but it would enter at #7 if the present average persists and could crack the top five if later reviews raise its average by four percentage points.

The Hollywood Reporter’s David Ehrlich gave the film a C-plus grade, writing that it was “formulaic fun,” while ComicBook.com’s Tanner Demon gave it 3.5 out of 5 stars, calling it “bland entertainment.”

“That’s probably who’ll enjoy this film the most; those who played one or two games in the series and could pick Nathan out of a lineup of protagonists, but aren’t invested enough to get hung up on inconsistencies,” Demon stated, in his entire review, which you may read right here.

He added, “For those uninitiated to Uncharted, let Holland be your Nate and shelve this movie next to your Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones collections. The more fervent fans may never see their favorite characters translated as well as they’d like, but we’ll almost certainly be getting more movies after this one, so it’s best to look at Uncharted the same way it views itself – not too seriously.”

According to the film’s official description, Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) and witty accomplice Victor “Sully” Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) are introduced in Uncharted. This action-adventure epic follows Nate and Sully as they pursue the mythical “greatest treasure never found,” while also tracking clues that may lead to Nate’s long-lost brother. Based on the famous video game franchise, it spans the world and follows Nate and Sully as they embark on the perilous hunt for “the greatest treasure never.

In this movie, Antonio Banderas plays an unnamed role and Sophia Ali (India Sweets & Spices) is Chloe Frazer. Tati Gabrielle (The 100) portrays Braddock. Ruben Fleischer, the filmmaker who brought Venom to life, serves as director of the adaptation.
