The CW is setting the scene to bring back a WB favorite.
Deadline is reporting that a Roswell reboot will be heading into development. The reimagining will have a twist on the original series’ plot, as it introduces a new protagonist who is coming back to her hometown and also dealing with an immigration aspect of the story.
Check out the synopsis provided below.
After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: he’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.
The original series saw a trio of aliens coming landing in Roswell as children and growing up in the town, with this major secret. Fans of Roswell got to see Max, Isabelle, and Michael go through high school and strike their human/alien balance.
The series is set to be written and executive produced by Carina Adly MacKenzie, whose previous writing credits include The Originals and The Flash.
