Roseanne was one of the most popular sitcoms of the ’90s. Although, sources state that there is no official deal and the project , itself, is being shopped around, confirmation from EW says that a revival of the comedy is in the works.
It will be limited to an eight-episode series with original cast members John Goodman, Roseanne Barr, Laurie Metcalf and Sara Gilbert set to return. Barr and Gilbert will be executive producing the series along with Bruce Helford and Tom Werner.
Goodman recently appeared on The Talk in March for a reunion sketch. When he was asked if he would be interested in a potential revival, he answered with a “HELL YES!” He also stated during the interview that,
“The Big R [Barr] and I did a pilot about five years ago that didn’t go anywhere, right on this very lot, but we were very happy working together. Yeah, I talk to her every once in a while. But if we could get everybody together…”
Gilbert, who is also co-host of The Talk, also added,
“Your only fear is that you don’t want to do a bad version, right? Because you don’t want to damage what’s been done, but I think, yeah, I think it’d be amazing.”

Fans who have seen the show and are familiar with the story-line are wondering how producers will involve Goodman in the series. When the series ended, it was revealed that Dan had, in fact, died after suffering a heart attack and Darlene {Sara Gilbert) and David’s (Johnny Galecki) wedding.
Soon after Goodman’s appearance on The Talk, Barr added to the speculation by posting to her twitter page,

The tweet was followed by Roseanne writer Norm Macdonald’s tweet,
I would like to write this show. I know what the Connors are up to. Write it like a play, like no other reunion show ever done. Let's do it. https://t.co/RUZvJDmzb6

Roseanne aired for a full nine seasons on ABC before it ended in 1997. It fast became a favorite and instant classic. It was real and raw and touched on very serious issues, such as abuse and alcoholism. If the revival develops further, it will join the list of several other recent revivals that includes Gilmore Giirls, Fuller House, The X-Files, Will & Grace and Twin Peaks.
