‘Rocketman’: Bryce Dallas Howard Cast as Elton John’s Mother
Bryce Dallas Howard will be portraying Elton John’s mother in Paramount’s upcoming biopic, Rocketman.
In the film, we are expected to see John’s rise from a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music, to his fame and fortune as a superstar. His partnership with songwriting collaborator, Taupin, will also be portrayed. It was in 1972 that John broke out with the album ‘Honky Chateau’, in 1973, John became a hard hitter with the ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ album which topped the charts for two months in the U.S. and U.K.
We know Howard from her performances in the big screen fan favorites; Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom where she took the role of Claire Dearing. Her previous film has grossed $1.2 billion worldwide, including $387 million in North America. Before she was seen in Fallen Kingdom, Howard was seen playing opposite Matthew McConaughey in the TV drama called Gold. Aside from that, she was also in Pete’s Dragon reboot.
Elton John will be played by Taron Egerton, Bernie Taupin will be played by Jamie Bell, and the music manager, John Reid, will be played by Richard Madden.
The film will be produced by Matthew Vaughn and his Marv Films alongside John and his Rocket Pictures partner David Furnish.
At the helm of the project is Dexter Fletcher, the script was written by Lee Hall, and Paramount Pictures will distribute and fund the film.
