CW orders ‘Riverdale’ Spin-off ‘Katy Keene’ pilot
The Archie Comics gang are continuing their small screen domination as a new Riverdale spinoff has just been announced by The CW. Katy Keene will focus on the titular character and her friend in New York City. Headed up by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who currently acts as show runner on the Riverdale series, a series pilot has been order by the network, which Aquirre-Sacasa will also be penning, alongside Micheal Grassi.

Katy Keene follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City. The show has been described as a musical dramedy and is currently billed as a spin-off, unlike fellow Archie Comics show The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, so fans are speculating if we’ll be getting some crossover between the two shows, or if any of our Riverdale alum will be headed for the big apple. Veronica Lodge has often recounted her wild youth spent in New York, so that looks like the biggest connection between the two shows so far. Might Katy make an appearance in the recently announced Heathers musical episode of Riverdale? Here’s hoping. Either way, it looks like we might be getting the Glee/Riverdale mash-up we never knew we needed.

Along with Katy Keene, The CW has also ordered pilots for a Jane the Virgin spin-off, a Lost Boys TV Show and a Nancy Drew project. Bring on pilot season!
