Yet again, “something wicked this way comes” as Riverdale prepares for its third season on The CW. After the shocking and batshit crazy events that took place in season 2, fans are eager to know what to expect heading into season 3 and now they have a bit of a clue for the show’s premiere, at least.
Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa posted out a photo of the 3×01 script, revealing the episode’s title to be “Labor Day” and an excerpt from Archie Comics, which the show is based on. Check it out below!
Season 2 found Archie (KJ Apa) on the hunt for the Black Hood and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) fighting for justice for the serpents, which by the season’s end would have new members in Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) and Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart). Hiriam Lodge managed to frame a high school student (Archie, of course) for murder and have him thrown in jail while Veronica (Camila Mendes) tried to get a leg into the family business.
The title could mean that the series is doing a bit of a time jump and will be picking up as the gang is gearing up for another year of school, which means that fans will be right in the thick of the fallout of the finale’s events. “Labor Day” will be written by Aguirre-Sacasa and directed by Kevin Sullivan.
The third season of Riverdale will premiere October 10th on The CW.
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
