‘Riverdale’ Recap “Chapter 57: Survive the Night”
Toni tells Penelope what’s been happening at the Farm. Instead of stopping Edgar, Penelope wants to buy in bulk including Betty’s freedom. Edgar says the ascension is upon the Farm. Alice, suspicious of Edgar’s antics, helps Cheryl and Juniper escape.
Archie, Veronica, Betty, and Jughead get an invitation to meet Penelope at the Blossom Hunting Lodge. Also invited, the Black Hood and the Gargoyle King, better known as Hal Cooper and Chic. What?! Penelope was the ringleader behind the murders and G&G. She is the true Gargoyle King and wants to play another round of the game. If they lose, they die.
The final quest: survive the night. Archie fights and wins against a beast. Betty volunteers to play the lethal spin the bottle with Veronica and while they win the challenge, all of the chalices were poisoned… To get the antidote, they must complete the quest, quickly. For Jughead’s test, he must fight Chic and Betty, for the finale, has one bullet to kill her father. She shoots but it is Penelope who kills Hal. Penelope wants them dead regardless.
Cheryl and Toni reunite and together with the Serpents and Poisons, they save the fab four. After, they head to the Farm to stop the ascension but are too late. Kevin is all alone because someone had to stay behind to tell people what happened. Apparently, the FBI has been after Edgar for quite some time and it turns out that Alice was working for them undercover. OMG it’s Charles THE REAL CHARLES!
Varchie is back! I knew they were endgame. Seriously, Bravo, this was an excellent finale. Did you see any of this coming? I didn’t! Will we see Penelope again? What is Hiram planning now? Is Cheryl is keeping Jason’s body? Why are we starting season 4 off with so many questions? What happens during spring break? That teaser did not scream quiet senior year to me…
