‘Riverdale’ Recap “Chapter 55: Prom Night”
Is the Black Hood back? Did Hal Cooper escape? Everyone says there were no survivors, but we know better. Unless you see the body, dead doesn’t always mean dead, ven when the coroner confirms the death.
Archie is preoccupied with boxing, he wants to go pro, against his mother’s wishes. Back in a pickle, Archie has to lose six pounds to fight in a tournament this Friday but also has to fight his ass off in a fight for the Navy recruiter which is also on Friday. He loses both fights.
Edgar is not the Gargoyle King so Bughead decides to try to use the Gospel to lure the Gargoyle King to the prom to catch him. They change the theme to renaissance and vote Betty as prom queen.
Before her coronation, Betty gets a letter from the King to meet him where it all began. She obeys but gets attacked by a hook handed Black Hood. While escaping, she runs into multiple corpses. Is the Black Hood and the Gargoyle King working together?
Edgar asks Betty to stay at the Farm for protection. She agrees.
Jughead accepting Betty’s invitation for prom is a dream, but watching Veronica and Archie awkwardly ignore the subject was priceless. They give in and Varchie is going to prom together, as friends. Of course Hiram owns the diner and speakeasy… that was a twist I expected. Fred going on a trip and Molly Ringwald staying in Riverdale a while longer, that I did not expect.
When Beth “grows up” she wants to see her creations appear on the screen and stage. In her free time, Beth blogs about her love of craft beer and writes screenplays.
