Ridley Scott Reveals Title For Planned Alien: Covenant Sequel

Ridley Scott has already confirmed plans for a sequel to the upcoming horror thriller Alien: Covenant, two months ahead of its release in May. Now, the director has teased that it will be titled Alien: Awakening.

In an exclusive interview with Fandango at South by Southwest, the 79-year-old also revealed the possibility that Awakening could fit chronologically in-between 2012’s Prometheus and Covenant.

“There will be another one before we kind of literally and logically, clockwise, back into the rear back head of (the original) Alien,” he said. “It will go Prometheus, Awakening, Covenant… (it’s) fairly integral where this colonization ship is on the way…”

Attempting not to let spoilers get out in the open about the possible instalments, Covenant’s lead star Katherine Waterson interrupts. However he added, “There will be more after this. If this is successful, and then the next one, and then there will definitely be three more.”

“If you really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six,” Scott said. “I’m not going to close it down again.”

Alien: Covenant premieres May 19 in the US and May 12 in the UK. Check out the newest trailer below:
