Taking place in a fictional city of Dulvey, Louisiana, you play as Ethan Winters. After receiving a mysterious phone call from a woman claiming to be your wife who died two years prior, you decide to search for her (of course you do) and end up at the plantation of the Baker family. What can go wrong, right?

Soon, after some game play, you find yourself held hostage but the Bakers. Jack, Marguerite (Jack’s wife), Lucas (their son), and a older woman in a wheelchair. After a torturous ordeal, you manage to escape and you have to try to find your way out. Zoe, who you hear from at some point earlier in the game, helps you by giving you advice. While trying to escape, you realize that every time you kill any of the Bakers or even try, they will regenerate and heal themselves. (Ugh…so annoying!) To make matters worse, you also have to run from monstrous creatures that they have created using other kidnapped people. (Yeah, next time your mysterious dead wife calls you…HANG UP!!)

Without giving away EVERYTHING…You will eventually come to a point in the game where you will have to make a decision. Each will take you through a different path in the game. The choice is yours…Sounds like a quote from the movie SAW. Anyway, the rest I will leave in your hands…who lives…who dies…Secrets will be revealed.

Besides the amazing game play, be aware that RE 7 offers a limited supply of resources to craft items needed throughout the game. Some resources can be used to crafts several types of items so at times you may have to choose whether to heal yourself or craft ammo. Ethan is also not an experienced killer so his skills in reloading his weapon can be frustrating, especially when you are trying to fight off one of the many mutated creatures that you will encounter. Be sure to upgrade Ethan’s skills by using the steroids that you come across.

As stated before, the game follows a first person POV. It will also allow you to make use of Sony’s PSVR Headset as well as HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Capcom stated that whether you use VR or non-VR, there will be no difference in the quality of game play. Just let me tell you this…I have seen the VR game play and it is INSANE, but that is just this nerd’s honest opinion. So if you are able to purchase or, at least try it in VR, you will not be disappointed.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is available now at your local retailer and online.
