It’s inconceivable that anyone would want to try to remake a flawless film, like William Golding’s The Princess Bride. Well, rumor has it that one might be on the way…
Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra had mentioned that pitches have been made to reboot Norman Lear’s iconic 1987 motion picture.
“We have so many people coming to us saying, ‘We want to remake this show or that show,’” Vinciquerra told Variety. “Very famous people whose names I won’t use, but they want to redo The Princess Bride.
The Princess Bride is a fairy tale adventure about a beautiful young woman and her one true love. He must find her after a long separation and save her. They must battle the evils of the mythical kingdom of Florin to be reunited with each other.
Like with all remakes or reboots, there were opinions for both sides, although the ones against this idea were arguably the loudest.
The film’s star Cary Elwes, the dashing Westley, said just what everyone was thinking.
There’s a shortage of perfect movies in this world. It would be a pity to damage this one. https://t.co/5N8Q3P2e5G

Jamie Lee Curtis even quoted the film to make her point.
Oh really? Well, I married the six fingered man ( Sir Christopher Guest), obviously why we have stayed together for 35 years and there is only ONE The Princess Bride and it’s William Goldman and @robreiner’s. “Life is pain highness. Anyone who says differently is selling something!”
Even the dictionary chimed in-

Honestly, I’m ready to storm the Sony castle if you are.
Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who produced films such as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and The Lego Movie, were quick to say they weren’t behind this rumor.
“For the record, not us,” he wrote, indicating it was neither him nor Lord who suggested the remake. “Love the movie—it still holds up as the greatest meta story put to film,” Miller wrote. “Also, the way you know it’s not us is the use of the phrase ‘very famous.’”
Luckily it seems like this is just a rumor as someone “familiar with the situation but not authorized to speak publicly” told USA Today on Wednesday that Sony Pictures has no plans for a revival.
As you wish
