When Pretty Little Liars aired its season finale, it felt like the end of an era for fans of television. The series, airing from 2010 to 2017, was a hit with young adult viewers and they grew up with the characters on the show. The actors and actresses became close friends, creating a lifelong bond, and the fans felt the same appreciation for everything the show became.
So when it was announced just hours ago that The Perfectionists had been picked up by Freeform, fans were ecstatic. Especially when that announcement was followed by news that two lead actresses would be reprising their roles from PLL.
That’s right, Sasha Pieterse and Janel Parrish will be big players in the new series and the main component for its tie into Pretty Little Liars.
Karey Burke, Freeform’s executive vice president of programming and development had this to say about the upcoming series.
‘At Freeform, we are committed to delivering shows that push boundaries and become a part of our viewers’ lives. ‘Pretty Little Liars’ was a cultural phenomenon so it’s no wonder fans wanted more. We can’t wait to continue Marlene King’s rich and revolutionary storytelling with a new crop of leading ladies from Beacon Heights who will hold just as many secrets and lies as Rosewood did.’
Marlene King added that she couldn’t wait to continue her relationship with Sara Shepard, Freeform, Warner Horizon, and Alloy.
I’m beyond excited to continue my collaboration with Sara Shepard, Alloy, Freeform and Warner Horizon. I can’t wait to introduce our fans – and Sasha and Janel – to a new world of thrills and chills in Beacon Heights.
Beacon Heights sounds like it may just be our newest favorite town. We can’t wait to see The Perfectionists. Are you as excited as we are?
