‘Pokémon Go’ News: Updates, Partnerships And The Possible Addition Of Over 100 New Catchable Pokémon

Rumors of a big, new update for Pokémon Go have been circulating for weeks with many questioning whether or not the game will finally be adding generation 2 and legendary Pokémon to the list of catchable characters within the game.  During the Thanksgiving holiday, PoGoers discovered that the ever elusive Ditto was finally catchable, leading players to hope for more updates to come in the near future.

Recent online discussions suggest that a new update may just be days away.  Apparently, leaked game code could possibly point to the arrival of Pokémon Gold and Silver’s expanded menagerie.  If true, this would add over 100 new creatures to the game.

Just today, the official Pokémon twitter account basically confirmed the rumors of additions to the game:

The game made another big announcement today when it made public its deal with Sprint.  The nation’s fourth-largest wireless carrier will be partnering with Niantic in order to turn more than 10,500 Sprint, Boost Mobile and Sprint-RadioShack stores into PokeStops and Gyms for players to access.  This will also be going into effect on December 12th.  Additional rumors surrounding partnerships also include an upcoming announcement from Starbucks.  Though information has been leaked online, we’ll have to wait and see if that becomes official in the upcoming days.

The official Pokémon Go twitter account has also released information on an update to the game.  The information includes being able to transfer several Pokémon at once back to the professor for candies and a total candy count displayed for your walking buddy Pokémon as well as other minor fixes.

So, what does this all mean for the future of the game?  We have no idea!  While the game became an overnight sensation, usages number have declined significantly.  This is to be expected as the initial hype and excitement surrounding the game has worn off.  Will the addition of new Pokémon be enough to lure folks back to playing?  What new Pokémon will we be getting with this next update?  We will have to wait until December 12th to find out!
