Paul Walker’s Brothers Hope to Bring His Character Back to the ‘Fast and Furious’ Films

When The Fast and the Furious star Paul Walker was tragically killed back in 2013, a little piece of the fan-favorite franchise died along with him. In many ways, Walker was the heart of the franchise, and when his untimely death left the fate of one of the films in jeopardy, his brothers stepped in to help complete his character’s legacy.

Caleb and Cody Walker helped finish off the storyline for Walker’s character Brian O’Conner in Furious 7 by stepping in as body doubles for their beloved brother. Afterward, the studio worked its movie match to superimpose Walker’s face onto his brother’s bodies thus completing the final scene where O’Conner rides off into the sunset, alive.

In the film installments since, Walker’s character has been mentioned at least twice solidifying the fact that the character remains alive in the film franchise. Caleb and Cody spoke with the Associated Press recently while promoting the touching documentary I Am Paul Walker which celebrates the life of their brother, a beloved actor and humanitarian. In their interview, they both said that, if done appropriately, they hope to get to bring Walker’s character to the big screen once more. Caleb Walker said:

[row]“I just hope we get to — I don’t know — have a little cameo and bring Paul back to save the day and I get to help create that again. That’s my dream and I hope we get to do that in one of the future movies.”[/row]

It would be a great way to honor their late brother if his character did come back to save the day, but as Cody Walker points out, it would have to be done in a tasteful manner. The Walkers want to honor their brother and reprising their roles in bringing the character back would have to be well thought out and appropriate. Cody said:

[row]“I think there could potentially be a way to do it. But it would take a lot of thought and it’d have to be tasteful. It would have to be tasteful.”[/row]

All in all, Cody and Caleb Walker just want to do right by their brother and honor the person he was while he was alive. Caleb spoke about how it does feel a little creepy seeing themselves portraying him in Furious 7, but ultimately, they feel it’s worth it and the right thing to do. Caleb said:

[row]“It’s kind of creepy sometimes when you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s me.’ It doesn’t feel right. I think one day, when our kids are little older and we are able to share that experience with them and be like, ‘Hey look, this is your uncle Paul. He was the greatest guy in the world and here we are being able to portray him and finish up this movie for him.’ That’s when I think it will really hit that I think it was really worth it and special and all that. But in the meantime, it’s still a little conflicted.”[/row]

I Am Paul Walker premiered earlier this month on Paramount Network and featured untold stories from the actor’s family and friends, and contained never-before-seen family footage in the film.
