Sir Patrick Stewart has taken on many legendary roles throughout film and the theater. A critically-acclaimed and distinguished actor, he is best known as Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation and, more recently, as Professor Charles Xavier in the X–Men franchise. This summer, however, he will be known as Poop.
Sony Pictures announced on Wednesday that Stewart has been cast in the upcoming animated film The Emoji Movie and will be taking on the role of the Poop Emoji. Since Stewart is pretty much the right choice for any role, we can’t wait to see what kind of charisma he brings to this character.
The Emoji Movie also features the voices of T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley), Maya Rudolph (SNL), Ilana Glazer (Broad City), James Corden (The Late Late Show with James Corden), and several others. The film follows Gene (played by T.J Miller) who is a multi-expressional emoji, as he sets out on a journey to become a normal emoji.
In December, Sony released the first teaser trailer for the film which you can check out below. Towards the end of the teaser, Poop emoji makes an appearance. The Emoji Movie will hit theaters on August 4th of this year.
