If you’re a fan of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, you’ve probably learned a couple things while watching the show. From realizing that love is always nicer when you’re flying on fancy planes to exotic locations to that in depth article that shows what it costs to actually be a contestant on the show – some of it is definitely set up so that the end result goes a certain way, at least for a while.
However, some of it is definitely more real. Like, we all know we’ve dated someone who’s been dating other someones at the same time, even if we weren’t supposed to know – at least these girls and guys on TV get the heads up. There are those emotionally and fearfully driven conversations where someone has to open up about themselves, we’ve been there, done that -it’s just as scary on TV as it is in real life, and there is always drama lurking around the corner. It’s not all bad, we should say that too, there are those dates that give you butterflies, the ones that make you feel like you’re on top of the world. There’s the whole getting excited for the first kiss thing and wondering when the right time is to say ‘I love you’. Those parts are the fun ones, the ones that matter most.
While not all love that begins on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette ends in a happy ending, in fact, a lot of it doesn’t – some of our favorite couples are still together, and happily. While the new season of The Bachelorette starts tonight, we wanted to take a look at some of our favorite couples who have stood the test of time.
Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter
The first contestant ever on The Bachelorette, Trista picked Ryan from her group of suitors and their love has only grown in the years since. They’ve shared many moments together, some good and some bad, but they’ve never left one another, vowing to work through any issues that would arise. They’re also extremely sentimental, you saw that watching the show and in the parts of their lives that they’ve shared since. They sort of set a tone for future couples and a lot of bachelor contestants after that have looked to them for advice. Rightfully so, they made it work.
Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici
These two had a few group dates to start, and many may not have seen her as a front runner, but Sean had a thing for Catherine from the very beginning. Sean says the turning point for them, in his eyes, was the first kiss. For her, it was their glacier date. Both were sweet moments. Their relationship was a lot of getting to know one another, stolen kisses, and some trouble too. Her sisters and mom made their hometown date a bit awkward, but he wasn’t deterred, obviously, they’re married with an adorable son!
JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers
Some viewers believed that Jordan was only on the show for all the wrong reasons, but JoJo started falling for him early. He may have had a certain vibe, or it may have been viewers seeing something that wasn’t really there. A lot of people thought the pair would split, but they stayed together and they look happier now than ever. Jordan adores JoJo and she loves him right back. Recently she spoke to People and said she’s still enjoying being courted and being Jordan’s fiance, they’re taking it slow and making sure they set their love story up to last.
Ashley Hebert & J.P. Rosenbaum
Ashley and J.P. are that couple that we follow on Instagram, cooing over their photos and being sort of giddy that their love lasted. J.P. was so smitten with Ashley from the very beginning and one of our favorite group dates in the show’s history was one that J.P. was on in Ashley’s season, where they repainted an orphanage, while he didn’t win the group date rose that week, they still had some incredible moments together. On one of their solo dates, Ashley was having a rough couple of days, she curled up next to him in pajamas, no makeup, and glasses and thanked him for letting her ‘look like this’. He just beamed and said that’s what he wanted. Their story only grew more perfect with each turn of the experience and today they’re still together with two children, living a life full of love. When we think of The Bachelor/Bachelorette true love, we think of these two.
