Original Jurassic Park Cast Reunites for 30th-Anniversary Featur – Watch Now!

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this month, the original Jurassic Park film, released on June 11, 1993, continues to captivate fans and those involved in its creation. In a new featurette, the stars of the iconic movie, including Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, reflect on the significance of the project and express their gratitude for the dedicated fan base that has supported the franchise over the years. Alongside these familiar faces, Ariana Richards and Tim Mazzello, the young stars from the 1993 film, also make appearances, marking their return to the series since their roles in The Lost World: Jurassic Park back in 1997.

Directed by Steven Spielberg, the original film, based on Michael Crichton’s novel of the same name, transported audiences to a world where ancient DNA could resurrect long-extinct dinosaurs. Combining awe-inspiring technological advancements with heartfelt storytelling, Jurassic Park quickly became a monumental blockbuster. The success of the film gave rise to five sequels, television series, books, video games, amusement park attractions, and a vast array of merchandise.

While Jurassic World Dominion brought Neill, Dern, and Goldblum together for the first time since 1993, it also served as a culmination of sorts for the franchise. Following the underwhelming reception of Jurassic Park III in 2001, the series lay dormant until the release of Jurassic World in 2015, which reignited widespread interest. With Dominion providing a definitive conclusion, speculation about the franchise’s future and its potential continuation has been quelled.

However, given the rich mythology and the brand’s profitability, it is not a question of if the franchise will forge ahead, but rather when. Even Colin Trevorrow, the director of Dominion, acknowledges the series’ inevitability to move forward while admitting that sequels were not necessarily required.

“In order to alter the DNA of the franchise, I purposely took a different approach compared to the previous films,” Trevorrow shared with Empire in September. “The previous five films primarily revolved around dinosaurs as the central plot. In this one, the story revolves around characters inhabiting a world where dinosaurs coexist. If the franchise is going to progress—despite its inherent difficulty in being expanded—it should have been limited to a single Jurassic Park. However, if we are going to continue, I wanted to explore narratives in a world where dinosaurs are an integral part, rather than relying on reasons to return to an island.”
