One ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Star is Defending Thanos

The big bad villain in Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos, amused fans by being powerful, and sympathetic even when he was threatening to wipe out half of the universe.

A good number of fans left the theaters convinced by Josh Brolin’s acting that Thano’s motives meant well. One of these fans was Bradley Cooper, who voices Rocket Raccoon in the films. In an interview with BBC Radio1, the actor talked about his role and his experience as Rocket Raccoon and shared his thoughts on Avengers films.

One statement that stood out was a really nice comment about Thanos, of all people!

“He was amazing. That’s why that movie works. Thanos is, what a character — the fact that he made you kind of go, like, ‘He’s got a point!’”

In the film, Thanos is of the opinion that the universe’s resources are being consumed too quickly and it will soon fall. His only solution is to eliminate half of life on the universe to avoid starvation and poverty.

By doing so, survivors would have a better chance at thriving. Thanos is ruthless, and he approaches this situation as a load only he can carry, making audiences feel compelled enough to consider that his perspective could be right.

“Part of me is like, ‘I’m glad he’s sitting there in his chair, with the sun coming down. I mean, I hate that everybody, that half the world’s dead, but there’s a part of me that … he succeeded! And I don’t know what that says about me …”

Do you agree with Cooper? Is Thanos in the right?

The currently untitled Avengers 4 hits theaters on May 4th, 2019!
