Grease is still the word almost 40 years since the film’s release in 1978 as it continues to delight audiences of all ages. The film also has a special place in the heart of its leading lady, Olivia Newton-John, who played good-girl Sandy Olsen. Now, coming up on almost four decades of singing and dancing, Newton-John spoke with the Mirror about a possible reunion with costar, John Travolta.
“We are thinking up ways. Nothing to announce yet,” she said. “Forty years anniversary of Grease, which I can’t believe. Time goes so fast. It is so exciting.”
While she did not say anything about what context or format the reunion would come in, she did confirm that she and Travolta have been actively discussing reprising their iconic roles. The two costarred five years after the film’s release in Two of a Kind, and have excited audiences by performing with former Grease cast members at one of Newton-John’s shows.
Their most recent collaboration was in 2012 when they released a Christmas album, including an original song and video titled “I Think You Might Like It.”
