Norman Reedus Says ‘The Planet Is Going To Explode’ When The Walking Dead Returns

The Walking Dead fans have been in this situation before.  A highly anticipated upcoming moment on the show, having to wait for that moment to arrive and, of course, all the promotional hype that goes along with it.  Season 6 was filled with these moments and, while the creators of the show don’t regret those cliffhangers, they also seem to be empathizing with fans.  Robert Kirkman has said that he “will make sure that the payoff is worth the dread of the uncertainty that we’ve given you over the months that we’re on break.”  Now, we are starting to believe him.

The Walking Dead star, Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), spoke with Entertainment Weekly Radio this week and he had a lot to say about the cliffhanger as well as what we can expect from Season 7.

How many times has Reedus been asked who met Lucille?  And how does he feel about spoilers in general?

“Probably about a zillion times.  Like, all the time.  I don’t like spoilers, to be honest, I don’t want people to tell me the ending to the movie when we sit down in a movie theater. I don’t like them, so I don’t do them. I like the enthusiasm behind everyone wanting to know, but it’s a good feeling to have that enthusiasm, so let’s hold onto it.”

Now that we know how he feels about spoilers, what does Reedus think about all the outraged, Season 6 cliffhanger hating fans who just want to know who died?

“They’re still talking about it.  I’ve been making art for a long time and you want people to talk. Sometimes you make something just to get people to talk. The fact that people are still talking is a huge compliment to how that episode was executed and the acting in it and the writing of it. That’s a good thing. Talk sometimes its good. I know we all have phones and everything is instant gratification now. I get it. I like that too. I like the controversy, to be honest. For that many people to be that invested in that show and freaking out, I think it’s great.”

So, everyone is still talking about the finale and will continue to do so straight through until October.  What does Reedus say we can expect from Season 7?

“Trust me. I think probably the planet is going to explode. That’s my feeling. It’s so good. Every time we go on a promotional tour talking about what’s going to come, we all say ‘Oh my God, it’s amazing. I can’t wait for you to see it.’ But it continually surprises me how this show grows and is put together and the execution of it – no pun intended. It blows my mind. It just continually reaches a new plateau every single time, and this is the highest plateau we’ve ever been. So just wait. It’s worth the wait, trust me.”

We trust you, Norman and we are very much looking forward to Season 7!

  1. I was super pissed about the cliff hanger. However, i think it was genius. We will all be tuning in to find out who it was. We have yet to quit talking about it. It will be one, if not the, biggest episodes of the series. I just hope they realize they have a lot to live up to. It needs to be a main character to live up to the hype at this point.
