Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Says ‘All the Pieces Fit’ in the End of ‘Game of Thrones’

The anticipation leading up to the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones has been driving fans crazy. Viewers can’t wait to see the epic conclusion to the HBO drama and find out who will ultimately rule on the Iron Throne.

Last month, HBO president Casey Bloys confirmed that fans will have to wait until next year to learn the fate of their favorite characters, however, series star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is giving fans a little hint relating to the end of the series.

Of course, Coster-Waldau is not giving away any spoilers, but he is saying that everything comes together nicely in the series’ conclusion.  At the very least, this should be comforting for fans to know that the whole eight seasons worth of storytelling won’t end in a massive cliffhanger or a confusing ending left up to interpretation.

In a recent interview with The Wrap, Coster-Waldau said that when he read the script, he was afraid to read the ending, but once he did, he was pleased to see how everything comes together. He said:

I’ve spent so many years working on this and been guessing and trying to figure out how this will end — and when I read it, some of the parts of it I’d get, and other parts of it were just completely shocking and surprising. And it wasn’t, there were none of those horrible — you know shows where it’s a murder mystery and at the very last minute you find out it doesn’t make sense?” Here all the pieces fit into this massive jigsaw puzzle.”[/row]

We can’t wait to see how all of those puzzle pieces come together! The final season of Game of Thrones is by far one of the most highly-anticipated television series events ever as fans wait to learn the epic conclusion of the battle for the Iron Throne.

In addition to the eighth and final season, HBO has announced that one of the potential Game of Thrones spinoff series received a pilot order from the network giving fans comfort that, though the original series might be coming to an end, there is still more story to be told once the final chapter of the HBO series airs. It was previously thought that the pilot for the Game of Thrones spinoff prequel series would begin filming this fall, however, Bloys confirmed it’s now expected to begin filming next year.

The final season of Game of Thrones will begin airing in the first half of 2019.
