It’s no secret that the breakout character from season 1 of Stranger Things will be making her way back to Hawkins in season 2. We’ve already seen that Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is back with a new look, new mission and is ready to take on bigger, more terrifying monsters in the second season.
What we haven’t seen yet is just how she makes it back into the real world and escapes the upside down. Thanks to a brand new clip which debuted on Monday during MCM Comic Con in London, we got a sneak peek at how Eleven returns.
First off, for those that are worried, the clip is not really a spoiler. We’ve already seen Eleven back in Hawkins in the previous trailers and we’ve even seen the scene where her hand breaks through from the upside down into the real world. There is nothing new there. The new clip is an extended version of that scene and we get to see Eleven in her pink dress and blue jacket with blood dripping from her nose. The blood indicates that perhaps she used her powers to open a portal from the upside down into Hawkins but, we don’t know that for sure. She discovers what appears to be a small opening leading her into the Hawkins High School
Millie Bobby Brown introduces the clip. Check it out below:
The second season will pick in 1984, about a year after where the first season leaves off. Will (Schnapp) is seeing mysterious flashbacks to images from the Upside Down and he’s having some difficulty separating them from his reality. Will’s mom, Joyce (Ryder) is doing her best to keep everything normal for him but, at the same time, she has started dating an old high school classmate (Sean Astin). In an effort to protect Joyce, Will and the kids, Sheriff Jim Hopper (Harbour) is doing whatever he can to keep the crazy events they’ve all just experienced on the down low. But, perhaps the most interesting plot line of them all is that we will finally get to learn more about Eleven’s (Millie Bobby Brown) backstory, perhaps starting with the brand new scene shown above.
The official synopsis for the upcoming second season also promises sinister dangers:
Stranger Things 2: It’s 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the Demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab. Will Byers has been rescued from the Upside Down but a bigger, sinister entity still threatens those who survived.
We can’t wait to see this new season! Stranger Things season 2 will premiere on Friday, October 27th on Netflix. Are you ready to journey back to the Upside Down?
