Last week, it was announced that the formidable Grand Admiral Thrawn would be returning in a brand new prequel book series written by Timothy Zahn. Are you ready for more exciting news? good. The wonderful E. K. Johnston has announced a brand new novel focusing on Padmé.

Her recent book, Queen’s Shadow, finally gave Padmé Amidala and her handmaidens the spotlight they deserve. The first installment very much focused on Padmé’s transition from the Queen of Naboo to a respected Senator.

This new book, called Queen’s Peril, will journey further back into Padmé’s life and look at her time as the Queen of Naboo before meeting Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn.

When interviewed about her upcoming book, Johnston had this to say:

I am so excited. Broadly put, this was the first Star Wars book I ever pitched, way back in 2014. We had to update it a bit since, you know, there’s been a bit of Star Wars since then.

She even provided a sneak peak as what we can expect:

It’s the first round of handmaidens. It’s Naboo. And a lot of it is giving Quarsh Panaka gray hair. Also, the Trade Federation is probably going to show up and cause problems.

You can check out the cover art, beautifully designed by Tara Phillips, via Johnston’s Instagram post.

Truly amazing. As a big fan of Padmé and the Prequel series, I am so excited to see Padmé explored in more detail. The prequel’s tend to get a lot of hate, but there is a lot of great content in there and a lot of brilliant opportunities to expand on what we know. This is a perfect example. I hope fans are equally as excited as I am.
