San Diego Comic-Con 2018 is about to get a whole lot more terrifying! New Line Cinema is set to host “ScareDiego” at Comic-Con this year with cinematic previews that horror fans won’t want to miss.
Headlining New Line Cinema’s second annual ScareDiego preview night is two highly-anticipated films IT Chapter: Two and The Nun. Last year, the first chapter of IT played a big role is New Line’s preview night. The studio showed extended clips and teasers from the film as well as debuted the first teaser for The Nun (which was only released publically last month). With last year’s audience receiving such an exclusive preview of both films, there is a ton of buzz surrounding this year’s event.
According to Deadline, fans attending ScareDiego this year can expect to get some super early scoop on Andy Muschietti’s upcoming IT: Chapter Two. There most likely won’t be anything to show the audience, per say, since the film only began shooting this week. As for The Nun, fans can expect to most likely see some extended video previews. In addition, there is supposed to other surprise film announcements taking place during the event along with surprise filmmaker and talent appearances.
The ScareDiego 2018 event will take place at San Diego Comic-Con on Wednesday, July 18th (aka. Preview Night) at 9:30 PM at the Horton Grand Theatre in the Gaslamp District.
IT: Chapter Two picks up 27 years after the events of the first film and follows the adult Loser’s Club heading back to Derry, Maine after receiving a devastating phone call only to once again be subjected to the terrifying Pennywise. Directed by Muschietti, Bill Skarsgard reprises his role as the terrifying clown. The film also stars a stellar cast including Jessica Chastain (Beverly Marsh), James McAvoy (Bill Denbrough), Isaiah Mustafa (Mike Hanlon), Jay Ryan (Ben Hanscom), James Ransone (Eddie Kaspbrak), Bill Hader (Richie Tozier), and Andy Bean (Stanley Uris).
The Nun is directed by Corin hard and co-written by The Conjuring‘s James Wan and Gary Dauberman. The film stars Oscar-nominated Demian Bichir as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga as Sister Irene, Jonas Bloquet as local villager Frenchie, Charlotte Hope as the abbey’s Sister Victoria, Ingrid Bisu as Sister Oana, and Bonnie Aarons as the titular character thus reprising her role from Conjuring 2. After learning about her visions, the church sends Sister Irene (Farmiga) along with a priest (Bichir) to an abbey in Romania which has a dark past and, from the looks of it, a terrifying present too!
