If there is one thing we love about Marvel Studios films is how even when the stakes are high, they know how to enjoy themselves and have fun. None of the MCU series show this more than Guardians of the Galaxy, and their new “Baby Groot” centered TV Spot for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes full advantage of this!
Ever since we first saw dancing Baby Groot at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, we were hooked. Years later and we’re still just as – if not more – in love with this little guy. He’s a tiny ball of curiosity, joy and – as this new TV Spot shows – rage! The original full Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailer showed Baby Groot working through some issues by beating up a Ravager, and this TV Spot adds to it as we find Baby Groot not only doing that (again) but also beating up some tiny dinosaur-like aliens.
Though besides his tiny fists… uh, twigs?…. of fury, it’s also really interesting to see his and Rocket’s evolving relationship! In the first film, Rocket was the loose canon – with a canon in his pocket – while Groot was the more stoic one always trying to talk sense into him. This time around, Rocket seems to be the parental figure of sorts. It’s an fun dynamic for their friendship to take and one has to wonder if Baby Groot will stay, become fully grown by movies end OR if we’ll see an angsty teen Groot for Avengers: Infinity War? Either way, I’m excited!
