New footage of The Walking Dead seems to show ‘the beginning of the resistance’

In an extended preview focusing on the story arc for the second half of The Walking Dead‘s season 7, new footage is shown that has fans more excited now for the premiere than ever. When the season took it’s hiatus just weeks ago, fans – as well as the cast and crew – were at their limit. Boundaries had been pushed like never before and a battle had been fought that left our favorite characters feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. It was the lowest point of the series so far.

“They weren’t ready, they weren’t in a place to fight, but they are now”

The extended preview shows scenes from the heartbreaking start to the season, snippets of interviews with cast members – including Diana Gurira, Andrew Lincoln, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as well as scenes from the group as they begin to put together their army to defeat Negan.

The clips look intense, the characters look focused, and what’s better than all of that, is that the group is back together. There’s no stopping them now.

One of the most important clips of the season remains the moment where Daryl and Rick embrace after being apart for so long before Daryl hands Rick his gun. In that moment, Rick found it within himself to reignite the fire that was forced out of him with Negan’s debut and found that there is strength in numbers, there’s safety in their family.

Rick thought he was making the right decision for his group as he fell to his knees in front of Negan, giving up his freedom and his strength in hopes of pleasing the villain. While that decision did save lives, he sees now that Daryl had to go through hell and back to make it home. He sees that the other members of his group all struggled with loss and despair and they never threw in the towel. He also sees that even when he thought he’d given up entirely – he was never down for the count himself.

With just 10 days until the series returns to AMC, there’s no time like the present to show the power and the fight that still remains in the group. While Jeffrey ensures that things are only going to get crazier, there’s a certain hope now that it does, in fact, get worse before it gets better. If for no other reason than fans being beyond ready to see this all out war commence, and to watch our group come out on the other side victorious.

“They don’t have the weapons, they don’t have the manpower, but they have the will.”
