New Alien: Covenant still shows Katherine Waterston ready for action

Ridley Scott has been leaving people pale faced since 1979 with the cult-classic gore franchise, Alien. But, after his five decades of directing he’s found that people are a lot more difficult to scare than he initially thought.

He told Entertainment Weekly, “It’s a lot easier to make people laugh. But to really scare the sh- out of somebody? That’s difficult.”

Somehow it’s hard to believe that after witnessing a monster burst out of man’s chest in the first Alien film. And, it looks as though fans can look forward to the fear and goriness with Alien: Covenant, about a colony ship crew who get a big shock whilst on a new planet mission – hopefully they have some sort of escape plan.

Prometheus, the 2012 sort of Alien prequel, left many confused and somewhat disappointed. “Covenant is really going to show you who did it and why,” Scott says about the link between the films.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them star, Katherine Waterston takes centre stage looking familiar to Sigourney Weaver’s heroine, Ripley. Waterston was incredibly impressed by her director and right-hand-man. “He’s a master! He’s got the energy of 10 25-year-olds,” she says. “He’s sadistic. He loves the thought of making people scream in the cinema.”

The film also stars Danny McBride, Jussie Smollet, James Franco and Michael Fassbender will return as David.

Alien: Covenant is released on May 19th.
