Fans of Netflix’s latest original teen romance film The Kissing Booth will probably be really excited about their new upcoming movie To All the Boys I’ve Loved, which is based on the Jenny Han best-selling novel of the same name.
The movie follows Lara Jean Song Covey (X-Men: Apocalypse’s Lana Condor), a high school teenager who has been writing love letters to the boys she’s had crushes on over the years as opposed to just talking to them in person. She’s kept all of the notes hidden in her closet until one day they are mysteriously mailed to all the guys, which is my actual worst nightmare.
The five guys are Peter “with the beautiful eyes” who is played by The Fosters’ Noah Centineo. There’s Kenny “from camp” and Lucas “from homecoming” played by Trezzo Mahoro. Lara also wrote letters to John Ambrose from Model UN (The Killing’s Jordan Burtchett) and Josh, “the boy next door” played by Happy Death Day’s Israel Broussard.
The movie looks like a touching story about stepping out of your comfort zone and discovering how to become the person that you’ve always dreamed you could be, all of course, while also having to deal with the fallout of your deepest darkest secrets coming out.
The movie also stars Sex and the City’s Jon Corbett as Lara’s dad with Pretty Little Liars’ Janel Parrish and Descendant’s 2‘ Anna Cathcart as Lara’s sisters. The screenplay was written by Sofia Alvarez and it was directed by Susan Johnson.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before will begin streaming on Netflix on Aug. 17. Check out the whole trailer below!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
