Netflix’s newest drama Mindhunter is returning for a second season!  Netflix announced the news today via social media.  The series follows two FBI agents played by Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany who think they found the best way to solving future crimes – talking to convicted murderers.

The first season has garnered excellent reviews from both critics and Netflix viewers alike so, it’s no wonder that the series will be returning for another go!

If you’re not familiar with the series, here’s the official synopsis from Netflix:

MINDHUNTER follows ambitious FBI agent Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) as he struggles to comprehend incarcerated killers so that he might use this knowledge to catch others. He’s teamed with experienced agent Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) in the Behavioral Science Unit and will work with his sometimes reluctant partner to find new methods of investigation. Together they will meet some of America’s gravest killers – and face the cynicism and scorn of the tradition-bound hierarchy of the 1970s’ Federal Bureau of Investigation. Ford will risk empathizing with ‘evil’ in order to save lives. But, as Tench says, when arguing the case for their work: “How do we get ahead of crazy if we don’t know how crazy thinks?”

In addition to Groff (Looking) and McCallanay (Sully), the series also features Anna Torv (Fringe) and Hannah Gross (Unless). The series is directed by David Fincher (Gone Girl, The Social Network, Zodiac), Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna), Tobias Lindholm (A War, A Hijacking) and Andrew Douglas (The Amityville Horror, U Want Me 2 Kill Him?). Fincher, Joshua Donen (Gone Girl, The Quick and the Dead) Charlize Theron (Girlboss, Hatfields & McCoys) and Cean Chaffin (Gone Girl, Fight Club) are Executive Producers.

Mindhunter premiered on Netflix in October and season 1 is currently available via the streaming service. A release date for season 2 has not yet been made public.
