Netflix has unveiled a new trailer for Bird Box Barcelona, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 sensation that took the internet by storm. According to the streaming platform, the film chronicles the journey of Mario and his daughter, Anna, as they navigate the streets of Barcelona in search of refuge. While they join forces with a seemingly secure group, an ominous and more malevolent threat looms on the horizon. The movie is said to exist “in a parallel timeline” to its predecessor, so direct connections to the Sandra Bullock-led original should not be expected. Netflix recognized the franchise potential of the initial film’s success and has been discussing the creation of a “Bird Box cinematic universe.”
This marks the second trailer for the upcoming movie, following an earlier teaser released at the beginning of June. The cast of Bird Box Barcelona includes Mario Casas, Alejandra Howard, Naila Shuberth, Diego Calva, Leonardo Sbaraglia, and Georgina Campbell from Krypton.

Bird Box achieved significant success for Netflix when it premiered during Christmas in 2018. The horror film employed a simple yet captivating premise that was budget-friendly ($19.8 million): the existence of entities so powerful that merely seeing them drives people to self-destruction. The movie effectively showcased the talents of notable actors such as Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, Sarah Paulson, and John Malkovich, who conveyed a genuine sense of impending threat, often while blindfolded.
