Netflix Open to More Marvel Spinoffs

In 2013, Marvel and Netflix joined forces to bring four shows to life: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist alongside the miniseries: The Defenders.

Since this merger, Netflix has ordered more seasons of the shows and The Punisher, a spinoff led by Jon Bernthal. It will come as good news for most fans to know that there could be a new spinoff coming to the streaming giant’s platform.

Netflix made a presentation at the Television Critics Association today where Cindy Holland, the vice president of original content for Netflix, confirmed that there are “always” ongoing discussions for more spinoffs. However, there wasn’t any confirmation of which characters were being eyed for the said spinoffs.

Fans have been asking for a Daughters of the Dragon series seeing as the duo is going to officially join forces in the upcoming new season of Iron Fist. This made Holland’s comments even more welcome. Although there might not be any new films from Netflix and Marvel due to Disney’s plans of launching its streaming service, Netflix will be able to make new shows from their current Marvel Line-up.

It might seem like the next best spinoff for Netflix is Daughters of the Dragon, with the popularity that Colleen Wing and Misty Knight bring to the show. It is also possible that there could be a Heroes for Hire or Hellcat spinoff. This all depends on whether or not the streaming service deems it fit for fans to have their favorites team-up.

Netflix to set to start showing Season 2 of Iron Fist on September 7th. The show stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Sacha Dhawan as Davos, Tom Pelphrey as Ward Meachum, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum, Simone Missick Misty Knight and introduces Alice Eve as Mary Walker. Season 2 will arrive Sept. 7 on Netflix.
