Netflix just released the trailer to its new dramedy To the Bones.
Lily Collins stars as Ellen, a young woman with anorexia who joins an unconventional treatment program. Keanu Reeves plays the doctor who guides Ellen through the program.
The film was written by Marti Noxon and is based off of her own struggles with eating disorders.
Collins has also struggled with eating disorders and goes into detail in her book, Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me. She intends to use this project to send a message as well as a form of recovery for herself.
“Although I was in recovery for several years before the movie, preparing for the film allowed me to gather facts about eating disorders from professionals. It was a new form of recovery for me. I got to experience it as my character, Ellen, but also as Lily,” said Collins.
