Netflix is Eyeing George Clooney’s New Limited Series ‘Watergate’

Despite being an online streaming service,  Netflix has become a staple for great original content and one of the most sought-after homes for new shows and clearly George Clooney agrees. The Hollywood megastar is developing a limited drama series titled Watergate alongside Bridge of Spies writer Matt Charman (below) and it looks like it may have just found a network at Netflix according to sources for Hollywood Reporter and Variety.

The drama is set to be eight episodes and will be produced by Clooney’s own company Smokehouse Pictures. It will focus on the chief figures wrapped up in the famous presidential scandal, but there is no word yet as to whether or not Clooney would be starring. However, should Netflix choose to move forward,  audiences can expect that he would most likely step behind the camera to direct a few episodes.

Watergate won’t be Clooney’s first limited series to come out of Smokehouse Productions as he is also working on a Catch-22 adaption based on Joseph Heller’s novel of the same name with Paramount Television. Catch-22 is expected to be a six-episode miniseries written by Lion‘s Luke Davis and War Machine’s David Michod.
