The House of Cards is about to fold as the series approaches its sixth and final season.
The Netflix series has been the center of controversy over the past couple of years after allegations against series lead Kevin Spacey forced the show to change directions. Spacey played the role of Frank Underwood, President of the United States, however, in the upcoming season, the first lady, Claire Underwood (played by Robin Wright) will be taking the lead.
The upcoming season will focus on Wright’s character as the new President of the United States. Claire recently stepped into the Commander-in-Chief role after her husband (played by Spacey) stepped down from his command in the fifth season.
While we’ve known that Frank Underwood would no longer be President in the upcoming sixth season, his ultimate fate was still left in question. Thanks to a brand new teaser for the sixth season, that question has been answered.
The new teaser shows Claire Underwood (Wright) standing outside and speaking directly to her husband whom she calls Francis. She says, “I’ll tell you this though, Francis. When they bury me, it won’t be in my backyard, and when they pay their respects, they’ll have to wait in line.”
After Claire finishes speaking with a dead-pan glare directly into the camera, the shot cuts to a tombstone for Calvin T. Underwood. As the shot slowly pans out and to the right, we see a tombstone for Francis J. Underwood the 46th President of the United States. That’s right, Frank Underwood is dead.

The upcoming sixth season will be the last for House of Cards. Production on the series was shut down briefly while the claims against Spacey were being investigated. Ultimately, the character shift came after Spacey left the series amid sexual assault allegations from several accusers.
In addition to Wright, the series will also star Diane Lane, Greg Kinnear, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott, Boris McGiver, and Cody Fern.
The executive producers for House of Cards are Melissa James Gibson, Frank Pugliese, Robin Wright, David Fincher, Joshua Donen, Dana Brunetti, Eric Roth, Michael Dobbs, and Andrew Davies.
Netflix’s House of Cards will be available to stream starting November 2nd!
