NCIS Star, Miguel Ferrer Dead at 61

Miguel Ferrer, voice and character actor, who appeared in such films as Iron Man 3 and RoboCop, died today from throat cancer at the age of 61.

Appearing in seven seasons of the CBS drama NCIS: Los Angeles, Miguel was the first cousin of George Clooney and the son of Jose Ferrer and Rosemary Clooney.

“Miguel made the world brighter and funnier…,” stated Clooney in an interview. “We love you Miguel and always will.”

Miguel, who also appeared in the original Twin Peaks as FBI pathologist Albert Rosenfeld, will reprise his role in the upcoming reboot of the show on Showtime.

R. Scott Gemmill, showrunner for NCIS: Los Angeles, said in a statement that, “Today, ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ lost a beloved family member. Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart.”

Ferrer was a native Californian, born in Santa Monica, where he made his start as a musician and touring with Bing Crosby and his mother. He is survived by his wife Lori, sons Lukas and Rafi and his brothers and sisters.
