NBC Delays ‘This Is Us’ Midseason Premiere Date

Fans of This Is Us have been counting down the days until the midseason premiere since the series took its hiatus in November. There are just weeks to wait but with the heartwrenching ending and all that’s riding on the upcoming episodes, it seems like much longer.

Today, news broke that NBC was delaying the midseason premiere, but only by a week. Instead of a January 2nd return, the series will air on Tuesday the 9th. EW reports that, at first, no reason was given. However, an insider has since reported that the delay leaves time for the series to air more consecutive episodes leading up to the Olympics.

This allows fans to watch the first season, and the first half of the second season again before tuning into what are sure to be some heartbreaking episodes. With Kevin’s DUI involving Randall’s daughter and Kate and Toby just having suffered a miscarriage, tensions are high. Not to mention Randall and Beth having to see their foster daughter return to an environment that has been disastrous for her in the past.

We’ll see those stories continue to unfold when This Is Us returns on January 9th, 2018.
