Disney+ unveiled the first trailer for their new series National Treasure: Edge of History this weekend, and it provides a glimpse into how exactly the series connects to the popular Nicolas Cage National Treasure films. The show follows a mostly new group of characters on a different treasure hunt, but there are still some deep ties to the movies.
National Treasure: Edge of History is a story about Jess, played by Lisette Olivera. After uncovering long-kept family secrets, she sets out on a journey to find a lost treasure. The trailer for the film doesn’t give too much away, but we see how Jess discovers the treasure and her connection to the National Treasure films.
The trailer begins with Harvey Keitel’s Sadusky telling Jess about her family’s history, informing her that she doesn’t know the truth about where she comes from. He was a federal agent in the first film who attempted to locate and arrest Benjamin Franklin Gates. Now, he is more concerned with assisting the main character than tracking them down.
Sadusky’s position has evolved into something of a mentor, and he is well-versed in the finds made by Ben Gates. He is, of course, a Mason like Ben, who discovers this at the conclusion of National Treasure. Sadusky will most likely play a role in Jess’ and her pals’ search for her family’s fortune. He may have a significant impact on how the tale progresses.
National Treasure: Edge of History will be available to stream on Disney+ as of December 14th.
