‘My Hero Academia’ Is Getting A Second Film

Along with the other announcements made over the past week, My Hero Academia surprised fans by announcing a second movie on Twitter. The creator of the hit manga, Kohei Horikoshi created this visual to celebrate the announcement.

Considering the popularity of My Hero Academia, it’s not a massive surprise that a sequel was announced, I just don’t think many people, including myself, were expecting it so soon. The first film did very well and was an absolute blast. The screening I went to actually had to be upgraded since so many people bought tickets.

For those who missed out on seeing My Hero Academia: Two Heroes in cinema, the film is now available for digital purchase and is available on Blu-ray and DVD March 26.

The sequel has been set for a Winter release this year, just in time for Season 4, so it may be that the film ties in nicely with the events of the 4th season, or it could give us an entirely new story, much like the first film did.

In terms of the story, there are currently no indications as to what it will include but we will obviously see the return of our favourite characters, and quite possibly the characters from the first movie such as Melissa who equipped Midoriya with a nifty gadget to help him fight the various villains on I-Island. According to Comicbook, Horikoshi will supervise and design the new characters, so expect some weird and wacky heroes and villains with bizarre quirks.

Fun Fact: Dave from the first movie has a quirk that lets him bend his fingers.

The creator also shared this fun sketch! Maybe there are some hints in there?

Is that Midoriya as Pinhead? yes… yes it is. If you look closely you can see Shigaraki as the Predator. Who else can you spot?

With the official announcement, it is likely that we will receive more information about it within the coming months, but it is still very far away. At least we have a lot to look forward to, both the new film and the highly anticipated new season which airs in October.
