My Comic Quest #2: ‘Doctor Strange and the Sorcerers Supreme’

People that know me personally saw that I had my own adventure waiting for me. I moved from Belgium to the U.K. so that I could do an internship that changed my life forever. The first thing that I thought about was how the hell I would read my comics while I was away. The answer was pretty simple. I couldn’t.

On July 5, I started off with the first 5 comics where I discussed the Unworthy Thor series. This week, it’s the turn to Doctor Stephen Strange, which is personally my new obsession.

Before I left for England, I already had a few editions in my possession. That means I had to catch up on 5 more editions.

Storyline

I saw a few things that I saw in the movie like, the very sacred book that Stephen Strange wasn’t allowed to touch (but did anyway). A good guy that seemed to have lost in completely and steals people their magic (but in this case the guy is called Newton and not Mordo).

The comics were a little too wordy at times. But at the same time, this gives the possibility for everyone to join in on the comics. They go back in time and look at the past of certain characters.

There was one edition that pleasantly surprised me. That was #6 because it was completely interactive. It gave you the choice of what Stephen Strange had to do next. Yes, you can steer the storyline, how awesome is that? Be warned: your choices might end up killing one of the Sorcerers Supreme! I spend many hours going back to the first page because of it.

Artwork
With these comics, I was pleasantly surprised further on in the series. The first time I opened the first edition I didn’t like it as much as I should have.

I highly recommend Doctor Strange and the Sorcerers Supreme. It’s as wonderfully weird as the movie. Go to Marvel.com where you will be able to buy the digital version.

I have 44 more comics to go! Will you follow me further into my quest?
