My Adventures With Superman: Some New Information On The Superman Animated Series!

Most DC fans were shocked to learn that we would be getting not just one, but two, new animated series. One would feature Batman, which is rather unsurprising, to be honest. if an animated series is going to be made from DC, odds are it will feature Batman. The other was a Superman show that looks unlike any Superman series we’ve gotten to date. Now we have some new information on the Superman animated series headed to HBO Max.

The series will follow the adventures of Superman, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen. All three are in their twenties and just starting to discover who they are. Even better is they’re just learning what they can do together.  Now, Tom Ascheim, president of Warner Bros. Global Kids, Young Adults and Classics at WarnerMedia is giving us a little bit of information on My Adventures With Superman.

Ascheim spoke to TV Kids, saying “[My Adventures with Superman is] kind of a romantic comedy. Lois, Clark, and Jimmy are recent college graduates at the Daily Planet, going through the life stuff you go through when you’re in your early 20s. It’s a romance in addition to being a superhero story. In our version, Clark is new to his powers, so it’s also a coming-of-age story for all of them. That piece of animation tested better with girls than any animation we’ve done in a really long time.”

The series is really about these characters becoming the characters we know them as. Clark is just starting to establish his identity as Superman. Lois, meanwhile, is just starting to become the journalist we know and love. She takes new photographer Jimmy Olsen under her wing and decides to show him the rope. The three will, as you can guess, become fast friends.

Amy Friedman, Head of Kids & Family Programming, Warner Bros. had this to say, all the way back when the series was first announced.

“Superman has remained one of the most iconic and beloved Super Heroes in the world. This fresh take from the Warner Bros. Animation team delivers a modern, relatable Clark kent alongside a fearless, whip-smart Lois Lane who are navigating the small tasks of both becoming adults and trying to save the world.”
